Arran is a Barrister-at-law, adjudicator, arbitrator and mediator. He co-wrote two eidtions of the leading Irish text Arbitration Law (Round Hall, Dublin 2008 and Dublin 2014). From 2013-2015 he served on the Board of Management of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. He is a Door Tenant at 1215 Court Chambers in London. Since 2004 he has been a part time law lecturer, tutor or guest lecturer for a number of institutions including Dublin City University, Law Society of Ireland, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Dublin Institute of Technology, University of Maynooth and the University of Limerick. He has taught around 450 hours at third level since 2004. Arran is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of a number of domestic and international arbitral panels. Arran has been involved in about 75 Alternative Dispute Resolution processes either at hearing or by giving pre-hearing advices with the sum at issue ranging from €1,000 to €5,000,000. He has contributed around 30 articles to journals such as Global Arbitration Revoew, The (Irish) Bar Review, Commercial Law Practitioner, Irish Law Times and the Employment Law Reports. He has done pro-bono work for FLAC in Dublin and Tipperary, (Dublin's) Northside Community Law Centre and the Bar Voluntary Assistance Scheme. In 2011 he helped organise the CIArb's International Young Members conference held in Dublin on November 11th; in 2012 he helped launch the CIArb's Arbitration Law Forum, in Dublin, which saw John Tackaberry QC and John Gordon SC speak at the first event chaired by former Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern as of the end of 2015 there have been 28 further events. He was Chairman of the Irish Branch of the European Court of Arbitration from 2013-2015.

Arran has a strong background in Arbitration, Construction, Employment and EU Law but has a general practice and works in Dublin, Ireland and on the South Eastern circuit (Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Tipperary). He has full rights of audience in the Republic of Ireland and appears regularly in a range of courts in both civil and criminal matters. Arran has been a member of the Refugee Legal Service Panel of Barristers since 2004, a member of the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement's Legal Panel since 2008 and later that year also joined the Department of Defence's Legal Aid Panel. He was an Associate Tenant and member of the ADR Group at Clarendon Chambersin London, England from 2010-2011 and now practises from Warrenside Chambers and 1215 Chambers.
